Three other offices take the rest of Georgia, and they send people to the wrong building:
- OfficialSavannah and the coast (Chatham, Bryan, Effingham, Liberty, Long, McIntosh) belong to the Charleston, South Carolina field office.
- OfficialSouthwest Georgia, including Albany (Dougherty County) and Columbus (Muscogee County): the Montgomery, Alabama field office. Twenty-six counties.
- OfficialSoutheast and south-central Georgia, including Valdosta (Lowndes), Brunswick (Glynn), Camden, Coffee and Ware: the Jacksonville, Florida field office. Seventeen counties.
The split counties hold surprises. In Walton County, Monroe, Social Circle, Good Hope and Jersey go to Montgomery; only Loganville goes to Atlanta. In Worth County, Sylvester goes to Montgomery, and in Berrien County, Nashville goes to Jacksonville. Houston County, Georgia, around Perry and Warner Robins, belongs to Atlanta; don't mix it up with Houston, Texas. Your notice always wins over any list, this one included: USCIS can transfer a case to balance the workload.
The Atlanta citizenship line
USCIS publishes how many naturalization applications (Form N-400) each office has waiting. On June 30, 2026, Atlanta was 11th of 93 offices.
| Field office | N-400 pending, Jun 30, 2026 | Rank of 93 | Decisions approved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atlanta | 17,300 | 11th | 80% (1,059 of 1,317) |
| Houston | 31,057 | 1st | 91% |
| Dallas | 28,662 | 2nd | 92% |
| Chicago | 23,623 | 3rd | 77% |
| Orlando | 13,964 | 20th | 75% |
| All offices | 742,138 | — | 82% |
In USCIS's table (April 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026), Atlanta received 3,710 naturalization applications and decided 1,317, approving 1,059 (80%) against 82% for all offices. For every application it decided, Atlanta received 2.8, so the line is still growing. That's the office's record, not a forecast for any one case. USCIS accepts the N-400 up to 90 days before you reach the residence requirement. For today's wait, read USCIS's processing-time tool the day you file.

Before your interview
- OfficialYour notice decides. Form I-797C has the address, the time and the documents to bring. Check USCIS's office closings page the morning of the interview.
- OfficialLawyers attend in person. Since May 18, 2026 your attorney or accredited representative can't join by phone or video, except in limited cases. USCIS field offices page.
- OfficialSpanish documents need a certified translation (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)): how to do it right. An interpreter, if you need one, signs Form G-1256 in front of the officer.
- WarningUSCIS appointments are free: anyone who sells you one is running a scam (report it at 800-375-5283), and a notario can't advise you. If you have no notice and need an appointment, the step-by-step is in the Houston guide.
Biometrics: three centers, and two are in other states
Fingerprints, photo and signature are taken at an Application Support Center (ASC). USCIS assigns one by ZIP code and prints it on your biometrics notice: you can't choose. The Atlanta center serves most of the Atlanta office's ZIP codes, including Augusta, Macon, Athens, Rome and Warner Robins; some ZIP codes in south-central and eastern Georgia go to centers in Jacksonville, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina.
| Center | Address | ZIP codes assigned |
|---|---|---|
| Atlanta, GA | 3358B Chamblee Tucker Road, Atlanta, GA 30341 | ZIP codes assigned: 615 |
| Jacksonville, FL | 4121 Southpoint Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32216-0930 | ZIP codes assigned: 37 |
| Charleston, SC | 1650 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Suites 5-7, Charleston, SC 29407 | ZIP codes assigned: 31 |
Bring the notice and a valid photo ID. To reschedule for a good reason, use your USCIS online account at least 12 hours before, or call 800-375-5283. Missing biometrics without rescheduling can get your application denied.
The Atlanta Asylum Office is a different building
Affirmative asylum interviews are at 401 West Peachtree Street NW, Second Floor, Suite 2400, Atlanta, GA 30308, by appointment only, Monday to Friday. It accepts no walk-ins and gives no in-person information: write to Atlanta-Asylum@uscis.dhs.gov and use your receipt number at uscis.gov/casestatus. If you're Venezuelan and lost TPS, read why the asylum deadline is running.
Free and low-cost legal help in Atlanta
These Atlanta-area organizations are recognized by the Justice Department, so their accredited representatives can represent you before USCIS, like a lawyer, often free or low cost (ask what they charge). From the official roster updated October 18, 2026. It doesn't say which cases each one takes, so call first.
