Short answer

The USCIS Dallas Field Office is not in Dallas: it's at 6500 Campus Circle Drive East, Irving, TX 75063. There are no walk-ins: you go with an interview notice or an appointment, which you request at my.uscis.gov or through the USCIS Contact Center, 800-375-5283. It serves 74 whole Texas counties and parts of ten more, from Dallas and Fort Worth to Tyler, Wichita Falls and Abilene, but not Lubbock's streets, which go to Oklahoma City. Fingerprints are not taken here: biometrics happen at six separate support centers.

Split ZIP code by ZIP code. Only ZIP codes with a residential area count here; P.O.-box and institutional ZIP codes are listed apart:

  • Mostly elsewhereCochran: only 1 of 3 residential ZIP codes go to this office; 2 to Oklahoma City. Check your notice.

  • Mostly elsewhereTerry: only 1 of 3 residential ZIP codes go to this office; 2 to Oklahoma City. Check your notice.
  • P.O. boxes onlyScurry: this office gets only P.O.-box or institutional ZIP codes (2); the county's residential ZIP codes belong to another office.

Lubbock County is the clearest trap: of its 21 residential ZIP codes, only one goes to Dallas and the other 20 go to Oklahoma City, whose office is in Edmond, Oklahoma. In the South Plains and Panhandle edge the pattern repeats: the ZIP codes that go to Dallas are mostly P.O. boxes. Houston County, around Crockett, belongs to Dallas despite its name. And three big places go elsewhere: Austin (Travis County) and Killeen (Bell County) to San Antonio, Amarillo (Potter County) to Oklahoma City, and Midland to El Paso. Your notice always wins over any list, this one included: USCIS can transfer a case to balance the workload.

Dallas has the second-biggest citizenship line in the country

USCIS publishes how many naturalization applications (Form N-400) each office has waiting. On June 30, 2026, Dallas was second of 93 offices.

Field officeN-400 pending, Jun 30, 2026Rank of 93Decisions approved

Chicago23,6233rd77%
Atlanta17,30011th80%
Orlando13,96420th75%
All offices742,138—82%

In USCIS's table (April 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026), Dallas received 6,167 naturalization applications and decided 3,358, approving 3,089 (92%) against 82% for all offices. For every application it decided, Dallas received 1.8, a faster pace than Chicago (4.1) or Atlanta (2.8), and its approval share is above the national figure. That's the office's record, not a forecast for any one case. USCIS accepts the N-400 up to 90 days before you reach the residence requirement. For today's wait, read USCIS's processing-time tool the day you file.

Before your interview

  • OfficialYour notice decides. Form I-797C has the address, the time and the documents to bring. The office name says Dallas but the building is in Irving: use the address on your notice, not a map search for "Dallas".
  • OfficialLawyers attend in person. Since May 18, 2026 your attorney or accredited representative can't join by phone or video, except in limited cases. USCIS field offices page.
  • OfficialSpanish documents need a certified translation (8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)): how to do it right. An interpreter, if you need one, signs Form G-1256 in front of the officer.
  • WarningUSCIS appointments are free: anyone who sells you one is running a scam (report it at 800-375-5283), and a notario can't advise you. If you have no notice and need an appointment, the step-by-step is in the Houston guide.

Biometrics: six support centers, two of them far away

Fingerprints, photo and signature are taken at Application Support Centers (ASC). USCIS assigns one by ZIP code and prints it on your biometrics notice: you can't choose. Four of the six are around Dallas, Fort Worth and Lubbock; people in a few counties of East and Central Texas (Leon, Houston, Comanche and Hamilton counties) are sent to the Houston NW or Austin centers, hours from Irving.

Bring the notice and a valid photo ID. To reschedule for a good reason, use your USCIS online account at least 12 hours before, or call 800-375-5283. Missing biometrics without rescheduling can get your application denied.

There is no asylum office in Dallas

Every ZIP code of the Dallas field office is assigned to the Houston Asylum Office, at 16855 Northchase Drive, Second Floor, Houston, TX 77060, by appointment only. See the Houston field office guide for how it works. If you're Venezuelan and lost TPS, read why the asylum deadline is running.

Free and low-cost legal help in Dallas and Fort Worth

These organizations are recognized by the Justice Department, so their accredited representatives can represent you before USCIS, like a lawyer, often free or low cost (ask what they charge). From the official roster updated October 18, 2026. It doesn't say which cases each one takes, so call first.
